swoon

My hope is that this blog will become a celebration of growth in my creative perspective overtime. I hope to take each stage of growth, record it, and celebrate it as it is. I hope to give each quilt, fabric, color scheme, quilted pattern, ripped seam, skewed cut, broken needle and finished product the value that is inherent in it. The value is that I'm working towards a goal. The value is that there is a client, a friend, a family member who is getting all of my love in each of those stitches and fabric swatches. The value is that the Lord gave me a creative spirit and I am taking a step of faith by joining in the creative process with him. His creativity is endless and so is mine. I am not limited by my resources or even my mind. Creativity is inherently immeasurable.

So there you have it. Immeasurable. That's this blog. That's our brand. That's the goal. In each phase of life, no matter where we are or what we face, there is limitless ability for celebration and creation. This blog will be the record of it and the brand and products will be the physical result. Its gonna be so good!

Today I am beginning a quilt for a sweet family that is very dear to our hearts. Their house is full of life and humor and two darling little girls who love their mommy and daddy and who know that Jesus loves them. That's a good way to be a family.

I'm still fleshing out some ideas on the pattern for this one, but I know the basis will be a crisp, bright, modern take on the traditional Swoon block. One of the great things about modern quilting is that there is an underlying praise and respect of the longstanding quilting tradition. There we go again, realizing the value in the growth and process of things. I'm thinking of creating a single swoon block on a large scale with some added defining features. We've honed in on the color feel for the quilt and now I can start on my favorite part...choosing fabrics!

Stay tuned for progress!
